Congratulations to GAO Lu and JIA Xiaoting


CAMBRIDGE, MA, May 4 -- Gao and Jia were elected the presidents of MIT CSSA for 2008-2009 at the annual general election this past Saturday.

An inauguration BBQ party will be held by our new presidents right after finals week, details to be announced. Come and congratulate them, celebrate the end of the semester, and sign up with the MIT CSSA team.

With the recent protests and counter-protests en route the Olympic torch relay, there has been mounting criticism of the Chinese government from the Western public. Agendas of the criticizers range from environmentalism, press freedom, Darfur, to skyrocketing commodity prices and the global food shortage crisis. In particular, China's policy in the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) takes center stage. Might there be a disconnect between the East and the West on China's social and political development?

MIT will be holding its first annual Asia Career Fair in mid-October, 2008. The career fair will bring companies from both the United States and Asia, with a focus on international full-time and internship opportunities.

We are currently recruiting organizers to fill our committee positions, and are accepting applications (due Friday, May 9 @ 11:59 PM). More Chinese new year festivities @Ashdown
The Year of the Rat is coming! MIT CSSA and Ashdown are gonna co-host a celebration party on Lunar New Year's eve on Feb 06 (Wed) in Ashdown Hulsizer Room. It is FREE to MIT community.

Come and enjoy traditional Chinese food with your fellow students. Love to make dumplings? Come early and demonstrate you skills! We will also bring New Year TV/movie shows.
